Job Description:
Senior Associate for Charles River Associates in Oakland, CA to
work with legal counsel to develop strategies to create solutions for
complex business problems, while providing economic analysis for
clients. Plan and manage the execution of significant sub-tasks on financial
analytical projects for diverse clients of the Competition Practice.
Conceptualize and analyze issues, determining the direction of a wide variety of
subordinate team members' analytical tasks. Identify and design analytic
tasks for junior associates and contribute to the development of overall
analytic framework for projects that involve analysis. Research of a
variety of economic issues. Maintain relationships with client
representatives to communicate developments and present results internally. Manage
the preparation of research/analytical reports or presentations.
Direct project planning and budget management efforts. Provide training and
technical supervision to junior associates, including review of their
analyses and providing coaching/mentorship/direction. Apply industry
knowledge to project work and identify business opportunities to add value by
sharing acquired knowledge. Contribute to business development efforts
and draft client proposals with other managerial staff. Requires Doctorate
(Ph.D.) degree in Industrial Organization, Applied Micro Econometrics,
Labor, Management, Economics, or related field (will accept foreign
equivalent) plus 1 year of experience assessing and defining strategic
objectives and action plans for statistical model building and economic
programming. Or, in the alternative, Masters degree in Industrial Organization,
Applied Micro Econometrics, Labor, Management, Economics, or related
field (will accept foreign equivalent) plus 3 years of experience assessing
and defining strategic objectives and action plans for statistical
model building and economic programming. Also requires: demonstrated
expertise (DE) modeling multi-stage limited dependent variable models with
serially correlated errors and state-dependent variables -- including
state- dependent binomial and trinomial probit models -- and deriving
models’ objective functions and subsequent maximum likelihood estimation
(MLE) or generalized method of moments (GMM) using Matlab, R, Stata and
aML; DE using numerical methods to simulate the outcomes of auctions and
game- theoretic dynamic models with strategic interactions, and
semi/non- parametric econometric techniques to estimate the parameters of
such models using Matlab, Python and R; DE solving complex linear
programming models using advanced global solvers -- including genetic algorithm and
simulated annealing -- programmed in Matlab and AMPL/Knitro; DE
performing computational analyses in the clustered Linux/Unix
environment, parallel/distributed programming, and scientific programming at
the GPU level using CUDA; and DE analyzing dynamic and quickly evolving
high technology industries -- including the mobile wireless industry
-- and modeling the competition for regulated inputs -- including
