District Works provides place management, beautification, cleaning and technician staffing and services to municipalities and community benefit districts in Oakland and throughout the Bay Area. District Works prides itself in working with organizations whose work aligns with our goals and values, focusing our collective efforts towards creating and sustaining vibrant, thriving, and inclusive communitiesPosition Summary--The--Janitor/Marine Technician--reports to the Program Director and is primarily responsible for routine janitorial and maintenance of vessels and island facilities. The Marine Technician --will--follow up on jobs and consult with the Program Director --for directions and support, but is primarily self-sufficient. Able to solve most challenges without assistance or intervention and furthers own knowledge as needed to complete tasks. Records assignments in appropriate programs and places with accuracy.--The--Janitor/Marine Technician--is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external business partners to ensure highly efficient and streamlined business operations at the highest level of the organization in the pursuit of achieving the mission for DW. The--Janitor/Marine Technician----is expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism projecting a positive image of the company to employees, clients and business partners.--The primary responsibilities of the--Janitor/Marine Technician----will be as follows:--Maintain spaces by pressure washing and clearing debris.Manage portable toilets and ensure they are up to standard for use.Support wastewater pump outs and connections to waste removal barge.Primary janitorial services for all restrooms.Basic repair and diagnosis of all pilothouse electronics.Proper diagnosis and repair of all pumps that can impact vessel or company operations.Additional job duties as assigned.Position QualificationsMust be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports. The ability to speak other languages is a bonus.Must maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and overall District Works standards of expected professionalism.Must be able and willing to correct poor performance or employee misconductMust be dedicated to serving the community.Ability to maintain clear boundaries and strict confidentiality with clients.Ability to create a compassionate and empowering connection with visitors.Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think well on one's feet, de-escalate situations, and promote positive communication.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Core competency to effectively relate with a culturally and racially diverse group of staff, and visitors.HAZWOPER certificate (40 hours)Forklift CertificationCPR & First Aid CertificationBenefits and Compensation$25.00 - $28.00 per hour--Annual bonus eligibilityHealth, dental, and mental wellness insurance coverage for employees and dependents--401(k) plan with employer match--Paid vacation and sick time off--A full-time employment status of 40 hours per week is required to participate in company benefits.PI0146286ef3ce-25660-35671142
